Undertake Vertical Rescue (Tower Rescue)
Course Objective:
To provide participants with the skills and knowledge to perform a basic rescue.
Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course the learner will be able to:
- Understand Australian Standards associated with Working at Heights
- Compliance with various State OH&S legislation to undertake vertical rescues
- Work safely at heights if Australian Standards are followed
- Identify workers safety requirements
- State safety procedures for workers safety
- Inspect equipment used for Working at Heights and Vertical Rescue
- Access Towers
- Carry out Tower Retrievals / Rescue
Course Content:
- Occupational Health, Safety & Welfare Act & Regulations
- Australian Standards for Working at Heights
- Equipment as used in Working at Heights and correct use of all safety equipment
- Karabiner construction, strengths and proper care
- Attachment points
- Temporary life line systems
- Inspection of equipment
- Inspection Record Cards
- Correct fitting of equipment
- Achieving safe access
- Carry out Tower Rescue
Assessment:
- Practical and written assessment
Course Award:
- Statement of Completion
Course Prerequisites:
- Medical Certificate or employer certification that participant is fit to climb and work at heights
- Successfully completed ‘Height Safety’ course
Fees and facilitation:
- Courses are facilitated at client’s site where practical work will be completed
- Courses attract additional costs for travel and accommodation
- Fee per person is $220(+gst) (minimum 6 participants)
- Course duration for 6 participants is 6 hours
